History

Leslie Lampton had an idyllic vision where nature and family existed together.   He found a beautiful site in Rankin County which he purchased in 1996.  This prime real estate was acquired long before Flowood became the dynamic and desirable lifestyle mecca of today.  This land was purchased by Mr. Lampton, a true entrepreneur who started his business from the ground up in 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 1993, Mr. Lampton saw the growth potential in Flowood and moved his headquarters there.  In 1996, after enjoying three years of the wonderful community that Flowood provided, he purchased the Luckney Road property.  He realized this was his opportunity to provide a special place for his family to reside.

For many years, it sat vacant, but he always shared his thoughts that it would be a place that all of his family could call home one day; if they all decided to live in the same area.  As time went by, his family moved to different areas of central Mississippi, but he held on to the land in case he decided to move out of his home that he built in the 1960’s.  He saw the land as a quiet and serene area where wildlife roamed, and he could enjoy nature.

He held the property until 2018 when he passed at the age of 92 and his son Lee acquired the property. He wanted Lee to have a piece of the city that had been a community to his employees for 22 years.  He wanted his son to build a place to continue his legacy, giving people moving into the area the sense of home.  He was passionate about this, as Flowood had provided a family environment for his business for so many years.  He also wanted to give the residents a serene and safe place to raise their families.  In 2020, Lee enlisted his son, son-in-law, and another businessman to help him develop a neighborhood that would instill all the values that his father would have wanted in the neighborhood.

They developed a concept of a gated community with room to roam with bigger lots for families to have a sense of community, but space to enjoy the nature that the Luckney Road property offers.  They also wanted to leave as many trees and natural spaces in place so they could continue to grow as the families in the neighborhood grew. Family was an important part of Leslie’s life, and he wanted to  provide a place for families to grow and thrive.  There are so many diverse parts of this neighborhood that will reflect the values and thoughts that Leslie had 26 years ago when he purchased it.  The last touch was to name the neighborhood.  Each street in the neighborhood has a significant meaning to the Lampton family.  For example the name Les Maisons comes from Leslie’s name and Maisons meaning the homes.

Leslie’s dream will continue to live on as Les Maisons, a neighborhood that embodies the vision of family, community, and support that he enjoyed for many years in Flowood.
